The Mardi Grasfather
“I have learned more in the streets than in any classroom.” –Don Vito Corleone
This quote is very true for the streets of Mobile, Alabama. Mobile is the birthplace of America’s original Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras originated in 1703 by Frenchman Nicholas Langlois. In 1867, following the end of Civil War, Joe Cain revived the parade tradition in Mobile on Mardi Gras. From Mystic Societies to Moon Pies, Mobile will always be the true Grasfather of America’s Mardi Gras.
